49. Simulium (Simulium) grossifilum Takaoka & Davies, 1995

Simulium (Simulium) grossifilum Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 105 –110 (Female, male, pupa and larva).

This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Gombak, Selangor (Takaoka and Davies, 1995). It is characterized in the female by the ovipositor valve with a dorsal projection, in the male by the lamellate ventral plate which is wider than long, and in the pupa by the six inflated filaments.

This species was also recorded from Thailand (Kuvangkadilok and Takaoka, 2000) and Vietnam (Takaoka et al., 2014d).

The aquatic stages of this species are found in small to medium-sized streams at low to high elevations (159– 1,345 m) in Cameron highlands (Ya’cob et al., 2016).
