McClure 8559 was the only gathering cited in the protologue of the name Sideroxylon rostratum Merr. (Merrill, 1922a) . However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen (A 00075922) exists in A is 2089, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 8559. Thus, the collecting number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
