The calceatus species group
Platus Motschulsky, 1844: 197 . Type species: Harpalus calcitrapus Motschulsky, 1844 (= H. calceatus Duftschmid, 1812), designated by Noonan (1976: 33).
Pardileus des Gozis, 1882: 289. Type species: Carabus calceatus Duftschmid, 1812, by monotypy. Neopardileus Habu, 1954: 283 (as a subgenus of Ophonus). Type species: Ophonus itoshimanus Habu, 1954 (= H. calceatus Duftschmid, 1812), by original designation.
Diagnosis. Pronotal basal margin bordered (sometimes border interrupted or indistinct medially or laterally). Elytra without row of discal pores on intervals 1, 3, 5 and 7. Protibia with three (rarely two) ventroapical spines arranged in a transverse row. Tarsomere 5 with spines ventrally (in addition to thin setae and hairs) (Fig. 10).
Composition. This species group includes only the Palaearctic H. calceatus .
