Comments. This subgenus is characterized by the presence of spinal processes on body in apterae. It is represented by five species worldwide, including a new combination redescribed herein. The Chinese endemic genus Margituberculatus Zhang, Zhong & Zhang, 1992 is synonymised with Eoessigia in this study (see detailed comments below), Eoessigia is thereby newly recorded from China. Species of Eoessigia mainly infest Rosaceae plants and occur in Canada, China, India, and the Altai Republic.
