Specimens examined. A specimen had been labeled as “ Athous humeralis Niwa [!], Mujugucheon-dong, 9. VI. 1972. J. I. KIM.” But it is Ampedus basalis (Mannerheim, 1852) . Any Korean specimen of A. humeralis is unavailable in this study.

Reference species. Athousis humeralis (Miwa, 1927): female, Shimashima-dani, Azumi, Nagano, Honshu, Japan. 9. Aug. 1965. N. Minagawa leg.; female, Aomori, Japan. 5. Aug. 1968. N. Minagawa leg., identified by T. M. Han.

Remarks. Athousis humeralis is a species endemic to Japanese occurring from Kyushu to Honshu in Japan (Kishii 1999). This species was first recorded from Muju, located in the middle part of Republic of Korea by Kim and Kim (1972). This record was then referred to the above checklists. Fortunately, we found the single specimen used by Kim and Kim (1972) and confirmed it to be Ampedus basalis (Mannerheim, 1852) . Therefore, we propose that this record be deleted from the Korean fauna.

Distribution. Japan (endemic)
