Polistes rothneyi carletoni van der Vecht, 1968: 99 (key), 100, fig. 3, ♀, “Kooloo” (Washington).

Material examined. Attock, 20.v.12, 3♀, 26.ix.12, 6♀. Rawalpindi, 07.iv.12, 4♀.

Distribution. India, Nepal and Pakistan (van der Vecht 1968, Das & Gupta 1989, Carpenter 1996, Gusenleitner 2006, Dvořák 2007, Mahmood et al. 2012).

Comments. Species collected from Pakistan were compared with the published description of Polistes rothneyi carletoni van der Vecht by van der Vecht (1968). This species is distinguished on the basis of following characters: mesosoma brown, with some dark lines along the sutures and on the propodeum; metasoma reddish brown; head dark red, with only faint blackish color behind posterior ocelli (Figs 28 a–b). New locality records have been provided for this subspecies.
