Pseudopomatias amoenus var. tumidula Möllendorff, 1886: p. 178. Fargesia cornea Heude, 1886: p. 211, Plate 36, Figs 12, 12a. Mellaca balansai Mabille, 1899: pp 15–16. new synonym Pseudopomatias fulvus Möllendorff, 1901: p. 81.
Remarks: The name " Pseudopomatias balansai Mabille " was found on labels in The Natural History Museum, London. We were not aware that Mabille had described a species under this name, and speculated that the name balansai was derived from Diplommatina balansai Mabille, 1886 (Páll-Gergely et al. 2015) . Examination of the three syntypes (MNHN IM-2000-31807, Figs 2 A–C) in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris revealed that Mellaca balansai is a synonym of Pseudopomatias amoenus Möllendorff, 1885 . Two shells had yellowish, and one reddish colouration. The smaller yellowish shell is hereby selected to be the lectotype (MNHN IM-2000-32496; Fig. 2).
