Menkokia major (Heinrich, 1934), new ♁

Material. Indonesia: SE Sulawesi, nr Sanggona, Mosquito Camp, Gn. Watuwila, Malaise trap, c 1200 m, 1 ♂ 13–17.x.1989, leg. J. Huisman & R. de Jong (Leiden) .
Description. ♂. Body length 12.5 mm.
Head. Flagellum with 34 flagellomeres, bristle-shaped; 1 st flagellomeres 3.1 × longer than wide. Tyloids on flagellomeres 8–15, small (0.5× as long as their flagellomeres), long-oval, centrally located. Temple short, strongly and roundly narrowed behind eye. OED 1.0 × and OOD 1.1 × ocellar diameter.
Mesosoma . Scutellum moderately elevated, with strong and complete lateral carina. Propodeum (fig. 31A) completely carinated; are basalis with strong median tubercle. Area superomedia horseshoe-shaped, slightly longer than wide. Hind femur densely punctate, 3.5 × longer than wide.
Metasoma. Postpetiole with fine aciculation medially, with coarse punctures laterally. 2 nd tergite about as long as wide. Gastrocoelus narrow, with 2 oblique ridges. Thyridium oblique, 0.7 × as long as the interval between thyridia (fig. 31B).
Colour. Scape reddish-brown dorsally, yellow ventrally. Seven basal flagellomeres reddish, following flagellomeres blackish. Fore and mid coxae and all trochanters and trochantelli cream-yellow. Hind coxa red, brownish baso-ventrally, cream yellow dorsally. Petiole black; postpetiole reddish-brown basally, yellowish apically. Tergites reddish; 2 nd to 4 th tergites with diffuse yellowish posterolateral spots; median spot of 7 th tergite and paramere yellowish. Coloration otherwise as described for the ♀ (Heinrich 1934: 211).
Distribution. Only known from Sulawesi.
