Munidopsis polita (Smith, 1883)

Munidopsis polita has been previously reported as Anoplonotus politus (Baba et al. 2008) from the east coast of the United States to the Caribbean in depths of 145 to 860 m (Smith 1883; Pequegnat & Pequegnat 1970). One ovigerous female had eggs measured (CW = 6.9 mm, 23 eggs, 0.80 mm average egg diameter). The other three ovigerous specimens had CWs of 7.3 mm, 9.3 mm, and 7.3 mm, but the eggs were not measured. Two males were measured (CW = 4.9 mm and 5.4 mm) and two non-ovigerous females were measured (CW = 3.2 mm and 5.3 mm). All specimens were from the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 207 to 1170 m, collected in every month except March, September, October, and December (Fig. 13 D).
