Munida affinis A. Milne-Edwards, 1880

Munida affinis has been collected from the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 357 to 549 m (Milne-Edwards 1880; Chace 1942). A total of 123 mature specimens was available from collections; only 51 were measured. Males (33 measured) were significantly larger than females (t-test, df = 50, t = -2.695, p = 0.01); male CW ranged from 2.4 to 3.9 mm, female CW range from 2.0 to 3.2 mm, ovigerous female CW ranged from 1.7 to 3.8 mm. Three non-ovigerous females and 16 ovigerous females were measured; sizes between ovigerous and nonovigerous females were not significantly different (t-test, df = 17, t = 0.252, p = 0.804). Specimens were collected between January and May; ovigerous specimens were collected January through May (Fig. 8 B). Unfortunately, no egg sizes or numbers were recorded for this species.
