Checklist of Paranthrenini of Mainland China
The following checklist is based on the results published in this study and the data of previous authors (Yang & Wang 1989, Liu et al. 1992, Xu et al. 1995, Xu et al. 1999, Špatenka et al. 1999, Gorbunov & Arita 2001, Wang & Yang 2002, Kallies 2007, Arita 2011). Several taxa, which were listed by Zukowsky (1929) and partly repeated by Jin et al. (2008) are considered misidentifications (Kallies 2007) and are excluded here. Based on our own data and on confirmed older records the following checklist of the Paranthrenini of Mainland China is presented.
Paranthrene tabaniformis (Rottemburg, 1775) Paranthrene rubomacula Kallies & Owada sp. nov. 1 Taikona matsumurai Arita & Gorbunov, 2001 Nokona bractea Kallies & Arita sp. nov. 1 Nokona opaca Kallies & Wang sp. nov. 1 Nokona regalis (Butler, 1878)
Nokona bicincta (Walker, 1864) 1
Nokona pernix (Leech, 1889) 2
Nokona chrysoidea (Zukowsky, 1932)
Nokona davidi (Le Cerf, 1917) 1
Nokona feralis (Leech, 1889) 3
Nokona actinidiae (Yang & Wang, 1989) comb. nov. 1 Nokona semidiaphana (Zukowsky, 1929) 1 Nokona iridina (Bryk, 1947) 1
Nokona chinensis (Leech, 1889) 1
Nokona pompilus (Bryk, 1947) 1
Nokona aurivena (Bryk, 1947) 1
Scoliokona nanlingensis Kallies & Arita sp. nov. 1 Scoliokona shimentai Kallies & Wu sp. nov. 1 Scoliokona spissa Kallies & Arita sp. nov. 1 Adixoa leucocyanea (Zukowsky, 1929) 1
1) These species were described from Mainland China.
2) The presence of Nokona pernix in China needs to be validated. This species is very similar to the variable N. chrysoidea . See below for further discussion.
3) The record of Nokona feralis (Leech, 1889) requires confirmation. It is based on Špatenka et al. (1999), but the original source of this record could not be traced back. It may relate to Nokona coreana Tosevski & Arita, 1993, which may occur in China.
