Type locality. “ Adiacenze di Napoli ” [adjacency of Naples], Italy .

Material examined. Lectotype by present designation (Fig. 10), sex undetermined, MZFN: new box, labelled: “42.4633 | Mordellistena confinis, n. Napoli [original Costa’s label] | LECTOTYPUS Mordellistena confinis Costa, 1854 D. Selnekovič des. 2019 [red label]”; glued on cardboard; abdomen dissected; distal half of right elytron, right antennomeres 2–11, left antennomeres 7–11, left maxillary palpus, prothoracic legs and genitalia missing.

Current status. Valid species; type species of genus Mordellistena Costa, 1854 .

Remarks. The lectotype agrees with the current interpretation of the species. Photograph of the lectotype is available on Flickr (Selnekovič 2020).
