TYPE:— BRAZIL. São Paulo, São Paulo (Capital), native to the botanical garden, June 11, 1935, F. C. Hoehne 33521 (holotype: SP!; isotype K!) .

Fruit description:—Fruits globose (Figure 2), 10–23 mm in diameter; green when immature, covered by whitish indumentum, passing through red, becoming dark purple and glabrous at maturity.

Notes:—It is known from few collections, and was described only from flowering material (Hoehne 33521). Fruits were recorded in the municipality of Cunha on the edge of an alluvial forest, at elevations above 1100 m (Maruyama 8619).
