Mitranthes capivariensis Mattos (1966: 53) .
TYPE:— BRAZIL. São Paulo, Capivari, Colônia Capivari, 20 August 1895, Edwall s.n. (holotype: SP!).
Fruit description:—Fruits globose, sometimes pyriform (Figure 2), 6–15 mm in diameter, green when immature, changing to red, becoming dark purple at full maturity.
Notes:— Mattos (1966) described Mitranthes capivariensis based only on flowering material (Edwall s.n.). It was known exclusively from the type collection in the municipality of Capivari, SP, and was recently collected with fruits in the municipality of Cunha, in a high altitude rainforest (Maruyama 6357).
