Eugenia karwinskyana has a wide distribution within Mexico, but it also occurs in Belize and Guatemala (WCSP 2020). The biome of occurrence of the species in Mexican territory is the Dry and Humid Tropical Forest, from 0 to 1,500 m elev. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. The area of occupancy (AOO) would likely exceed the thresholds of any threatened category when the remaining habitat available is taken in account. There are more than 10 known locations based on 24 collection records in Mexico within protected areas such as “Reserva de la Biosfera Los Tuxtlas”, in Veracruz, “Reserva de la Biosfera de Sian Ka´an”, “Porción norte de la franja costera oriental, terrestre y marinas de la Isla de Cozumel”, in Quintana Roo and “Reserva de la Biosfera Ria Lagartos”, in Yucatán. The habitat of the species for being in protected areas is in a good state of conservation, thus allowing its development (CONABIO 2018, CONANP 2006a, CONANP 2014, DOF 2012, INE-SEMARNAP 1999e). Therefore, according with the BGCI & IUCN (2019f), Eugenia karwinskyana is classified as Least Concern (LC) in terms of its degree of threat due to EOO greater than 20,000 km ² and occurring in protected areas without imminent threats into several countries.
