Type species. Gynochelys braunsi Brues 1906, by monotypy.

Diagnosis. ♀: micropterous (Figs 247B, C); antenna with ADOs; palpal formula: 6/3; pronotum crossed by strong transverse impression (Fig. 247C), not produced into lobes directed towards tegulae (Fig. 247C); enlarged claw with apex pointed, with one large subapical tooth and lamellae (Figs 248A, B); tibial spurs 1/0/1. ♂: un- known.

Distribution. Afrotropical region.

Hosts. Unknown.

World species. Two species are known, both present in the Afrotropical region.
