1. Crovettia afra Olmi, Copeland & van Noort, sp. nov.

Diagnosis. ♀ and ♂ of Crovettia with head and mesoscutum granulate (Fig. 19); 2r-rs&Rs vein straight and with apex not broadened (Fig. 18D); metapectal-propodeal disc and propodeal declivity reticulate rugose.

Description. ♀. Fully winged; body length 1.6–1.7 mm. Head black, except mandible testaceous; antenna testaceous; mesosoma black; metasoma brown; legs yellow-testaceous. Antenna clavate; antennomeres in following proportions: 5:5:4.5:4.5:4.5:4.5:4.5:4.5:4:7. Head dull, granulate; frontal line absent; occipital carina complete; POL = 5; OL = 3; OOL = 3.5; OPL = 3; TL = 4; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli shorter than OL (2:3). Mesoscutum and mesoscutellum dull, granulate. Notauli absent. Metanotum dull, rugose. Metapectal-propodeal disc dull, reticulate rugose, without transverse posterior keel; propodeal declivity with tracks of two longitudinal keels. Forewing hyaline, without dark transverse bands; 2r-rs&Rs vein straight and with apex not broadened (as in Fig. 18D); pterostigma large and black, occasionally brown. Tibial spurs 1/1/2.

♂. Fully winged (Fig. 19); body length 1.4–1.8 mm (holotype 1.4 mm). Head black, except mandible testaceous; antenna brown or testaceous; mesosoma black; metasoma brown; legs completely yellow-testaceous, or testaceous, except meso- and metafemur, meso- and metatibia and last tarsomere darkened. Antenna filiform; antennomeres in following proportions: 3.5:3.5:3:3:3.5:4:4.5:5:5:7. Head (Fig. 19C) dull, granulate; frontal line incomplete, present in anterior third of frons; occipital carina complete; POL = 5; OL = 3; OOL = 4; OPL = 1; TL = 3; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli shorter than OL (2:3). Mesoscutum and mesoscutellum dull, granulate. Notauli absent or incomplete (in holotype reaching about 0.5 × length of mesoscutum). Metanotum dull, rugose. Metapectal-propodeal disc dull, reticulate rugose, without transverse posterior keel; propodeal declivity without longitudinal keels. Forewing (Fig. 19D) hyaline, without dark transverse bands; 2r-rs&Rs vein straight and with apex not broadened (Fig. 18D); pterostigma large and black, occasionally brown. Paramere much (Fig. 20A) or slightly (Figs 20B, C) longer than penis; basivolsella usually with two distal bristles (Figs 20 A-C), rarely (in specimen from Kenya, 0.62884°S 36.42969°E) with one distal bristle. Tibial spurs 1/1/2.
