Subfamily Cultellinae Davies, 1935

Diagnosis: Shell medium to large, very long and slender, umbos subterminal ( Cultellus) or terminal ( Ensis); hinge with 1 to 4 cardinal teeth; gaping at both ends, eulamelibranch gills fused, short or long. For differences with Solenidae see “Comparison” under Solenidae .
