Limnophora stuckenbergi Zielke, 1971c: 71 .

Holotype male in NMSA (not seen).

Diagnosis. Arista with very short hairs; dorsocentrals 2+3; katepisternals 1+2; fore tibia with a posterior median seta; mid femur with 2 preapical setae, one posterior and one posterodorsal; mid tibia with 2 posterior setae; costal spine not distinct; sternite 1 bare.

Notes. Like L. transvaalensis Zielke, 1970, this runs to couplet 28 of Emden’s (1951) key (no costal spine but very short-haired arista). Zielke does not compare L. stuckenbergi with L. transvaalensis although both run to the same key couplet. Their differences can be summarised as follows:

L. stuckenbergi: scutum dark brown, subshining, grey laterally; a presutural grey band, between second dorsocentral and suture; a postsutural grey band before scutellum; scutellum grey at tip.

L. transvaalensis: scutum grey dusted dorsally; presutural area with a brown vitta behind; postsutural area with a median brown spot between the dorsocentrals, reaching to second postsutural dorsocentral, and after that with a weak median vitta; scutellum wholly brown.
