Firmothrips firmus (Uzel)

The genus Firmothrips includes a single species, and this is widespread in the Palaearctic Region (Milab-balou et al., 2014; Zhang et al., 2018). Wang et al. (2019) suggested this genus might be sister group of Kakothrips . Abdominal tergites V–VII of firmus lack ctenidia, and tergite VIII is often with no or very weak ctenidia.

Specimens examined. JAPAN, Hokkaido: Asahikawa-shi, Chikabumi, 3 females on Vicia cracca [ Fabaceae], 14.vii.2006, T. Nonaka (TUA). BOHEMIA: 5 females, unknown details of data, Uzel (NHM). CZECHOSLOVAKIA: Slovakia, 1 female on Vicia cracca, 30.v.1964, V. F. Eastop (NHM). SWEDEN: NN. Rada Sin, Sjögeränd, 1 male on Potentilla erecta [ Rosaceae], U. Qvick, 9.vi.1974 (NHM).
