The genus Nenteria was placed in the family Nenteriidae by Hirschmann (1979) with no diagnosis or description for the family. This family was never described and its name remains a nomen nudum (Halliday 2016). Thus, genus Nenteria is here placed in the family Trematuridae following Karg (1989) and Mašán (2001).

Diagnosis. The family diagnosis of Abo-Shnaf et al. (2018) was followed.
