Material examined. One female and two late-stage juveniles from a gravel bar in the Yasu River, just upstream from the Minakuchi bridge, Minakuchi-cho, Koka, Shiga Prefecture, N34º 57’ 46.56”, E136º 10’ 23.47”, 13 October 2009, collected by Mark J. Grygier.
Remarks. Previously, this species was only known from Yakushima Island in the southwest of Japan (Smith & Kamiya 2006). The greatly reduced natatory setae on the antenna distinguish this species from other Stenocypris species found in Shiga Prefecture.
