Material examined. Within Shiga Prefecture: Three females from a spring runoff by the edge of a track in Hinocho, N35º 00’ 06.2”, E 136º 19’ 47.6”, 16 April 2008. 100 females from a small seep at edge of a track in Hino-cho, N35º 00’ 10.5”, E136º 19’ 40.5”, 16 April 2008. Two females from moss at a seep at the edge of a track in Hinocho, N35º 00’ 10.0”, E136º 19’ 36.0”, 16 April 2008. 29 females from a small seep in a small forest clearing, Otsu, N34º 57’ 47.0”, E135º 52’ 01.9”, 10 May 2009. Outside Shiga Prefecture: 26 females from a muddy seep below a concrete dam in Akkeshi, Hokkaido, N43º 01’ 07.8”, E144º 50’ 36.6”, 9 September 2004. All material collected by the author.

Remarks. This species was previously reported from Japan by Okubo (2004) in an irrigation pond in a mountainous region of Kagawa Prefecture. Herein is the first report of this species from Shiga Prefecture and Hokkaido. Elsewhere this species has been recorded from Europe and central Asia (Meisch 2000).
