The carnea -group
The Chrysoperla carnea- group consists of many sibling species, which can only be differentiated based on the comparative analysis of mating songs, adult and larval morphology, and ecological data (Henry et al. 1999, 2006; Henry & Wells 2004). Morphologically, this species group can be characterized by the following male genital characters: arcessus striated; entoprocessus large and crescentic; gonarcus arc with broad lateral plates; gonosetae generally few; acumen of tignum digitiform; spinellae absent (Brooks 1994).
