Description. Adult (Fig. 23). Wingspan 14.5–15.0 mm. Head dark brown dorsally; frons gray. Ocellus absent. Antenna with scape dark brown dorsally, pale yellow ventrally; flagellum dark bown dorsally, yellowish brown ventrally, ciliate. Second segment of labial palpus dark brown on outer surface, grayish on inner surface, clothed with rough scales above; 3rd segment thickened, shorter than 2nd segment, dark brown, with rough scales above. Thorax and tegula dark brown; mesothoracic anepisternum without hair-pencils in male. Fore- and midleg dark brown except tarsomeres grayish yellow apically on outer surface, yellowish white on inner surface; hindleg pale yellow, mixed with dark-brown scales on outer surface, tibia clothed with long, yellow scales, tarsus with each tarsomere pale yellow apically. Forewing slightly broadened distally; ground color pale yellow, scattered with dark-brown scales; costa with dark-brown streak along margin from base to 4/5; with dark-brown, distinct discal and discocellular spots at middle and end of cell; broad dark-brown fascia presented along dorsum, extending to 4/5 of dorsum; a large, quadrate, dark-brown patch well-developed along termen from beyond apex to tornus; apex acute; termen obliquely straight; fringe dark brown, with pale yellow basal line. Hind wing brownish gray; fringe concolorous with ground color.

Male genitalia (Fig. 43): Uncus nearly rectangular, with rounded posterior margin, with a longitudinal ridge medially; anterior margin deeply concave in semicircular. Gnathos long, heavily sclerotized, strongly bent at basal 1/3, sharp at apex; culcitula semicircular, densely spinose, with a rounded process mesially on posterior margin. Valva slightly longer than tegumen plus uncus, narrowed in basal half, broadened distally, rounded at apex; valvella large, spatulate, about 2/5 the length of valva, with rounded apex. Setose patch small, columnar, inflated distally. Vinculum broad in anterior base, almost at right angles with lateral lobes; lateral lobes arising from middle, about 1/2 the length of vinculum, broadly banded; distal 1/5 bifurcate; apex acute. Saccal region narrow, nearly straight on anterior margin. Sicae with a pair of long, symmetrical lobes, fused for short distance, gradually narrowed to rounded apex, slightly exceeding base of vinculum. Aedeagus longer, 1.2 times as long as valva; triangularly produced at base, slightly narrowed beyond half; two short, weakly sclerotized bars placed beyond middle.

Female unknown.

Distribution. Vietnam (Ninh Binh).

Diagnosis. This species is superficially similar to Dichomeris obsepta (Meyrick, 1935), but it can be separated from the latter by having symmetrical lateral lobes in the vinculum, the symmetrical sicae, whereas in Dichomeris obsepta, lobes of the vinculum and the sicae are asymmetrical.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin, -quadrat (= quadrate), and - ellus (= small), referring to the rectangula valvella.
