Taphura nitida (Degeer, 1773)

Remarks. The male genitalia are unique in the claspers form a drooping hook-like extension from the pygofer bent at an approximate right angle and the basal pygofer lobes are rounded with recurved spinous extensions. In addition, the five spots on the dorsal head of T. boulardi rather than the complete transverse fascia found on the dorsal head of T. nitida quickly distinguish the taxa.

Distribution. The species has been reported from Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Peru, and Suriname (Metcalf 1963; Sanborn 2013; 2017a; 2019b; 2020c).
