Tetranychus okinawanus Ehara

Tetranychus okinawanus Ehara, 1995

This species was first reported on Pueraria lobata from Okinawa Islands of Japan by Ehara (1995) and hitherto known from Japan and Taiwan on more than 90 host plants. This is a new report from India on an ornamental plant Adenium obesum . T. okinawanus is considered a member of the 8th group species with an obvious dorsomedian spur on the female empodium I (Flechtmann & Knihinicki, 2002)

Specimens examined. Five females and eight males on A. obesum, Kerala Agricultural University campus, Thrissur, Kerala, south India, September 2013, coll. Haseena Bhaskar (AINP1335)
