Cratohaerea Chaudoir, 1850 [Bull. Moscou 23 (1): 13]

A genus restricted to the Afrotropical Region with three valid species. Basilewsky (1954) revised the genus, but treated some Cylindera species as belonging to it. The Cratohaerea species are known to occur on the termite nests of Bellicositermes sp. ( Isoptera) (e.g. Serrano 1997).

Cratohaerea confusa (Basilewsky, 1954) (Rev. Zool. Bot. Afr. 50: 346)

Distribution in Angola

Old records:

—Dundo (LUNDA NORTE) (51) (Basilewsky 1955; Alves 1956 sub Cicindela crysopyga; Ferreira 1965). Material examined: Dundo (LUNDA NORTE) (51),?. X.1948, 1 ♀, reg. nº 2148, IICT. Remarks. This species was described as a result of the revision of the Cratohaerea genus (Basilewsky 1954),

being ascribed only (type series) to the southern territory of D. R of the Congo. One year later it was recorded to

Angola on the basis of one specimen deposited in “Museu do Dundo” (Basilewsky 1955). Werner (2000b) did not

mention the species for Angola. We can confirm the presence of C. confusa to this country and quite sure it is much

more common than the few records indicate.
