Haemaphysalis canestrinii (Supino, 1897)

This is an Oriental and Palearctic forest species (Guglielmone et al. 2014). It has been recorded from Pakistan eastward to China, including Taiwan, with additional records from Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam (Hoogstraal 1971; Chen et al. 2010). Hosts of adults are mainly carnivores belonging to the families Canidae, Felidae, Mustelidae and Viverridae, although hare and birds have also been reported; nymphs have been recorded from Muridae, Tupaiidae and Viverridae (Hoogstraal 1971) . This species occurs from low elevations up to at least 1,250 m (Hoogstraal 1971).
