Triplocania robustoides n. sp. Male

(Figs 259–264)

Diagnosis. Related to T. robusta García Aldrete (1999), from the Peruvian Amazonia; differing from it in the forewing and head pigmentation patterns, and in details of the phallosome, particularly in the mesal transverse endophallic sclerite (Fig. 264).

Color (in 80% ethanol). Body brown. Compound eyes brown; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Head dark brown, with pale brown spots; head pattern (Fig. 261), antennae brown, scape darker than pedicel and flagellum. Maxillary palps brown. Thorax pale brown, with cream spots. Legs pale brown, coxae with brown spots on distal and basal ends; femora with dark spots proximally and distally. Forewings with dark brown bands on proximal and distal ends of pterostigma; a submaginal pale brown band from R4+5 to M3; a brown spot between apex of areola postica and M, and a pale brown area on cu1 and distal end of cu2. Hindwings hyaline, with brown veins, apices of R1, R2+3, R4+5 and M dark brown. Abdomen cream, with small, subcuticular brown spots. Paraprocts and epiproct brown.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head: H/MxW: 1.65, HD: 2.69, IO/MxW: 0.68, MxW/IO: 2.26. Vertex slightly above the level of the compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with five denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.25. Forewings (Fig. 259): L/W: 2.65, pterostigma: lp/wp: 5.00; areola postica high, la/ha: 1.89. Hindwings (Fig. 260): l/w: 2.88. Central sclerite of hypandrium convex anteriorly, bilobed posteriorly (Fig. 263). Phallosome V-shaped anteriorly, side struts slender, separated; external parameres distally broad, with pores, more sclerotized apically on inner border (Fig. 264). Anterior endophallic sclerites stout, with outer arms bow-shaped, inner arms stout, straight; mesal transverse endophallic sclerite with two long anterior arms, posterior arms straight, acuminate; posterior pair of endophallic sclerites stout, distally bi-acuminate (Fig. 264). Paraprocts (Fig. 262), broad, oval, with abundant medium sized setae and short setae distally; with a macrosetae near the sensory fields; these with 23 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide, slightly concave anteriorly, rounded posteriorly, setae as illustrated (Fig. 262).
