Triplocania kichwa n. sp. Male

Diagnosis. Forewing pterostigma with proximal and distal brown bands (Fig. 188), veins with a brown spot at wing margin; an elongate brown band on top of the areola postica. Central sclerite of the hypandrium with a median, bilobed posterior process (Fig. 192). Phallosome with posterior endophallic sclerites T-shaped (Fig. 193).

Color (in 80% ethanol). Body brown. Compound eyes brown; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Head pattern (Fig. 190); maxillary palps pale brown. Thorax brown: tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax dark brown, pleura with dark brown irregular areas; mesepisternum cream. Tibia and tarsi pale brown, coxae, trochanters and femora cream, coxae with apical and basal brown spots, femora with basal, median and distal brown spots. Forewings with submarginal slender brown band from R4+5 to areola postica; a brown area on cu1 (Fig. 188). Abdomen cream, with small, subcuticular brown ochre spots. Hypandrium and clunium brown, paraprocts and epiproct pale brown, with small subcuticular brown spots. Phallosome dark brown.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 190): H/MxW: 1.48; H/D: 2.68, IO/MxW: 0.70, MxW/IO: 2.03. Vertex slightly emarginate; slightly above the upper border of the compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with four broad denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.46; Mx4/Mx3: 3.30. Forewings (Fig. 188): L/W: 2.59, pterostigma: lp/wp: 4.15; areola postica high, slanted posteriorly, la/ha: 2.03. Hindwings (Fig. 189): l/w: 3.03. Hypandrium (Fig. 192), with side sclerites small, irregular, setose. Phallosome V-shaped anteriorly, external parameres membranous, distally rounded, with outer border sclerotized, denticulate (Fig. 193); anterior endophallic sclerites elongate. Paraprocts (Fig. 191) broad, oval, with setae as illustrated; sensory fields with 22 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide, convex anteriorly, with widely rounded posterior border (Fig. 191), setae as illustrated.

Material studied. Holotype male. COLOMBIA. Putumayo. Puerto Asís, Huitoto trail, 0°23’21.01”N: 76°31’41.87’’W, 264 m., 23.X.2014, MUSENUV slide code 28611, J. Panche. Led light trap in forest canopy.

Etymology. This species is dedicated to the Kichwa communities that inhabit the Amazon basin.
