Triplocania lapayaensis n. sp. Female

Diagnosis. Forewings deeply pigmented proximally, pterostigma wider in the middle, with brown bands proximally and distally, veins with large brown spot at wing margin (Fig. 200). Pigmented area of subgenital plate broad, V-shaped. Ninth sternum concave anteriorly in the middle (Fig. 205). Distal process about 0.75 as long as v2 +3.

Color (in 80% ethanol). Body dark brown. Compound eyes ochre; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Head pattern (Fig. 205), postclypeus almost totally dark brown; postclypeus, anteclypeus and labrum dark brown; genae and postgenae dark brown; antennae brown, flagellomeres distally cream. Maxillary palps brown, Mx2 and Mx3 with distal ochre ring. Thorax dark brown. Tibiae and tarsi brown, coxae, trochanters and femora cream. Forewings (Fig. 200). Hindwings with proximal brown area, veins ending in brown spots (Fig. 201). Abdomen cream, with small, subcuticular pale brown spots. Subgenital plate (Fig. 204). Ninth sternum (Fig. 205). Epiproct and paraprocts brown, with subcuticular brown spots.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 202: H/MxW: 1.40; H/D: 2.45, IO/MxW: 0.64, MxW/IO: 2.35. Vertex slightly emarginate, almost at the same level of the compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with five denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.60. Forewings (Fig. 200): L/W: 2.50, pterostigma: lp/wp: 2.62; areola postica high, rounded apically, la/ha: 1.54. Hindwings (Fig. 201): l/w: 3.21. Subgenital plate (Fig. 204) triangular, with dense field of medium sized and long setae. Gonapophyses (Fig. 205): v1 elongated, slender, acuminate; v2 +3 proximally wide, narrowing distally, with row of three setae on v2; distal process short, straight, with microsetae. Ninth sternum (Fig. 205). Paraprocts (Fig. 203), broad, elongate, with setae as illustrated; sensory fields with 14 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide anteriorly, straight, rounded posteriorly (Fig. 203) with setal field as illustrated.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the National Natural Park La Paya, in Puerto Leguizamo, Putumayo, Colombia.
