Published records. Kertész (1890, 1901), Horváth (1897, 1898), Soós (1959), BucȘa (1972), Jansson (1986, in map), Kecskés (1997, 1999), Ilie (2001), Ilie & Davideanu (2002), Berchi et al. (2011).

General distribution. From most of Europe, eastward to western and central Siberia (Jansson 1986, 1995; Putshkov & Putshkov 1996; Kanyukova et al. 2002, 2016; Boda et al. 2015; Protić 2016; Shapovalov et al. 2018b; Protić & Nadaždin 2019; Derjanschi & Chiriac 2020; Šeat & Nadaždin 2021). In Romania, this species seems to occur only in the central, western and northwestern parts of the country (Fig. 23).

Remarks. The old records of Sigara falleni from east and south of the Romanian Carpathians (extra-Carpathian area) (i.e., Montandon 1907; Jaczewski 1934; Popescu-Gorj & Costea 1961; Kis 1972, 1976; Schneider 1973) were published before the description of S. iactans Jansson, 1983; these records instead belong to S. iactans .
