Type material: as Hourcqia angulata angulata n. ssp..

Diagnosis: Several subspecies are grouped together under the name of Hourcqia angulata, of which the common distinguishing features consist of an angled, roof-shaped dorsal margin, a mostly truncated posterior margin, the occasional appearance of fine ornament, and the reversed valve overlap relationship (compared to the H. africana group) Left valve>right valve.
