Xanthocampsomeris hesterae Rohwer, 1927

Female. Body length 19.2 mm (range 17.8 mm – 21.3 mm); forewing length 14.4 mm; Structure. Clypeus lower margin striate; interantennal area striate or punctate; frons vertex and gena polished with some punctures; pronotum densely and coarsely punctate; mesoscotum punctate in margins and polished in the middle; scutellum and metanotum scattered punctate; anterior face of propodeum densely and coarsely punctate and posterior face polished; hind tibial spurs acute; pygidium covered with danse hair. Color. Pronotum with yellow spots on each side, sometimes forming a band; metanotum with yellow spot; front tibiae with yellow band; T1–T4 S2–S3 with yellow spots on each side, sometimes T1 forming a band; wings fuscous hyaline (Fig. 21).

Male. Body length 16.5 mm (range 13.1 mm – 18.6 mm); forewing length 13 mm; Structure. Clypeus polished, punctate in bottom margin; interantennal area densely and coarsely punctate; frons, vertex and gena polished with some punctures; mesosoma scattered punctate; posterior face of propodeum polished; fore wings hairy throughout. Genitalia (Fig. 42J). Parameres curved inward, ventral face with 3/4 elongated setae the rest polished; volsellae with dense and elongated setae. Color. Setae white, those on apical terga (T5–T7) and sterna (S5–S7), black; clypeus yellow; pronotum, metanotum and apical part of tegulae with yellow band; scutellum with two yellow spots sometimes connected; front coxae with yellow spots on each side; femora and tibiae with yellow bands, sometimes reduced or absent on mid and hid legs; T1–T4 with yellow bands, S2–S4 with yellow spots on each side, sometimes S4 absent; wings fuscous hyaline (Fig. 22).

Distribution. NT Mexico: Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz. Guatemala: Huehuetenango (Map 5). Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America and Venezuela (Bradley 1945; Rohwer 1927; Porte 1981; Fernandez & Cubillos 1999).
