Colpa octomaculata texensis Saussure, 1858

Female. Body length 15.4 mm (range 12.9 mm – 17.6 mm); forewing length 11 mm; Structure. Clypeus with sparse punctures along margins; antennal margins crested; interantennal area and frons sparsely punctate; horizontal impunctate and shiny band delimitating frons from interantennal area; vertex and gena impunctate; pronotum with moderately coarse and sparse punctures; mesoscutum, scutellum, and metanotum coarsely punctured along margins; dorsal area of propodeum coarsely punctate; most of the posterior face of propodeum impunctate and shiny, excepting some scattered punctures on the basal area; hind tibial spurs spatulate, spoon-like. Color. Setae, mandibles, clypeus, interantennal area, scape, vertex, gena, legs and sterna, ferruginous; yellow maculation on clypeus, frons, eye margins, pronotum, scutellum, metanotum, sides of propodeum, T1–T5, rarely on T5, and S2 or S3; wings infuscate on upper distal portion (Fig. 7).

Male. Body length 14.9 mm (12.3 mm 16.1 mm); forewing length 10.5 mm; Structure. Upper margin of clypeus punctate; interantennal area punctate; frons, vertex, and gena with sparse punctures; dorsal face of mesosoma with shallow punctures. Genitalia (Fig. 42C). Parameres elongated, more or less straight, ventral face polished with setae present on basal area; volsellae small, with long sparse setae. Color. Setae white, those on apical T2–T7 and S3–S7 black; integument black; clypeus nearly completely yellow or with two yellow spots on the upper margin; yellow maculations on posterior margin of eyes, lateral sides of pronotum, apex of femora, dorsal face of fore and mid tibiae, scutellum, metanotum, T2–T5 and S3; wings hyaline (Fig. 8).

Valid subspecies: Colpa octomaculata octomaculata Say, 1823, Colpa octomaculata hermione Banks 1912, Colpa octomaculata xanthina Saussure, 1864 .
