Diagnostic features

Receptacle triseriate. Anterior series consisting of 16–20 cells, median series consisting of 13–16 cells, posterior series consisting of 16–21 cells. Thallus deeply darkened towards the 1–3 lower cells of the anterior and posterior series. Antheridia very abundant and interspersed among secondary appendages on the posterior and anterior series. Perithecium immersed among the anterior and posterior series, protruding only by its ¼ of length; with two preostiolar black spots. Distribution and hosts

Grows exclusively on species of the genus Scaphisoma (Col. Staphylinidae, Scaphidiinae). This species has been recorded in Europe (Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Greece, Russia and Ukraine), as well as in Algeria (type) and Korea (Majewski 2008). Also in Hungary (Bánhegyi et al. 1985), France (Duverger 1995), Sweden (Huggert 2010), Bulgaria (Rossi et al. 2019a), and Belgium (De Kesel et al. 2020).
