Fujianacarus gen. nov.

Type species: Fujianacarus wisterianis sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Body fusiform; prodorsal shield with a long and broad frontal lobe over gnathosoma; empodium entire; scapular tubercles placed ahead of rear shield margin, scapular setae projecting centrad; dorsal pedipalp genual setae d short and unbranched; prodorsal shield without projections; first dorsal annulus broad, equal to 2 or 3 annuli; legs with usual series of setae; coxal area with usual series of setae; ventral setae d absent; dorsal opisthosoma with three ridges.

Etymology. The genus designation is derived from the specimen collection locality, Fujian Province.

Remarks. The new taxon is assigned to Eriophyoidea, Eriophyidae, Phyllocoptinae, Phyllocoptini . The new genus is similar to Proneotegonotus Mohanasundaram, 1983, but can be differentiated by the tibial and genu II setae present; opisthosomal ventral setae e present; dorsum with three dorsal ridges (tibial and genu II setae absent; opisthosomal ventral setae e absent; dorsum evenly rounded in Proneotegonotus). The new genus is also close to Prominens Huang & Wang, 2004 c, but can be differentiated by genu II setae present; opisthosomal ventral setae d absent; prodorsal shield concave between the scapular tubercles (genu II setae absent; opisthosoma ventral setae d present; prodorsal shield bulge between the scapular tubercles in Prominens).
