Strongylocotes Taschenberg, 1882: 54 (Type species: Goniodes complanatus Piaget, 1880, by subsequent designation). This genus contains 22 species distributed on birds of the Tinamidae genera Crypturellus (15 species), Nothura (1), Nothocercus (2), Rhynchotus (1) and Tinamus (3).
