Type genus: Paroecanthus Saussure, 1859 .

Distribution: Neotropics.

Diagnosis: Small to medium-sized crickets, FWs developed, brachypterous or without wings. Pronotum as wide as long or longer than wide; metanotal structures frequently present (Supporting Information, Fig. S4C, E). Apex surface of dorsal valves of ovipositor wrinkled (Fig. 16 Ca). Male genitalia: EndAp absent (Fig. 18C; Supporting Information, Fig. S8B, H).
