Syntypes: EEBP 620 a, 3 (1 measured) 76.4 mm SL (Figure 10): Brazil, S„o Paulo, Pirassununga, Mogi-Guaçu River, tributary of Grande River, tributary of the Paraná River, ~ 21°55′41″S, 47°22′32″W, ~ 545m asl, 07 May 1958 .
Remarks. Currently, the species is a synonym of Pimelodella boschmai Van der Stigchel 1964 (see Bockmann & Guazzelli 2003).
The lot has the catalog number EEBP 620a, and specific information on the collection (locality) are the same to those provided in Schubart (1964b) for the specimens used in the description of the species. Schubart (1964b: 7–8) employed several lots in the description of Pimelodella insignis, which are, as in the case of Plecostomus fluviatilis, all syntypes until a lectotype is designated.
