Diagnosis. Glyphobythus is readily separated from other genera of Bythinini by the following combination of characters: 1) body very small, below 1.4 mm in length, with distinct sexual dimorphism, 2) males with well-developed eyes, females microphthalmous, 3) head transverse in males, about as wide as pronotum, less transverse in females, 4) palpomere II slender, pipe-shaped, palpomere III small, both lacking pubescence, granulate on external surface, 5) palpomere IV large, subtriangular, with well-defined dorsal fovea in males, 6) scape long, cylindrical, distinctly longer than wide, pedicel spherical, all antennomeres simple in both sexes, lacking male sexual characters, 7) pronotum smooth to punctured, with sparse setation, pronotal antebasal sulcus present, 8) foretibia in males simple or with incision or attenuate.
