Pelecorhynchus kroeberi (Lindner, 1925)

Coenura kroeberi Lindner, 1925: 23 . Type locality: Chile, Magallanes, Punta Arenas. Type ♀, destroyed in Hamburg.

Diagnosis and comments. As we did not study any specimens that fit the description of P. k roe b e r i and the type is destroyed, the following diagnosis is based on the original description (with terminology updated based on Cumming & Wood (2009)). Body color brown. Scutellum with brown hairs, with white pleural hairs. Legs redbrown, darkening distally on the tarsi. Tergite 1 with a pair of white spots, tergites 2, 3 and 4 with wide white spots reaching the lateral margins. According to Pechuman (1967), it is similar to P. penai, since both species have small white spots on the lateral margin of the tergite 1, a character not observed in other species of Pelecorhynchus . Mackerras & Fuller (1942) stated that it is similar to P. elegans, but differs in that P. k roe b e r i has white hairs on the pleura, scutellum with distal margin with brown hairs, and legs reddish brown.

Geographic distribution. Known only from type locality, Región de Magallanes.
