Note. This name was synonymised with N. pallida (Evans) by Day & Fletcher (1994). They suggested that the widespread use of N. pallida, particularly in relation to its disease transmission in economic plants, justified an application to the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) for preservation of the younger name over N. phryne . However, no submission was subsequently made (M.J. Fletcher, personal communication, 2010) and Nesosteles phryne Kirkaldy as the senior synonym of N. pallida still has priority.
