Type:— IRAQ. Ad rupes in mediis regionibus montis Gara, 25.07.1841, Kotschy 326 (lectotype W0031740!, isolectotypes BM001122341!, W18890076013!, W0031751!, W18890004342!, G00402141!, G00402140!, K000247838!; here designated by Dirmenci) .

Flowering stems to 20 cm tall, decumbent to erect, branched from base, green to pale-green, pubescent to spreading hirsute-villous. Leaves elliptic-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, or ovate, 8–15 × 4–6 mm, attenuate-cuneate at base, rarely ±rounded, acuminate at apex, light green, spreading hirsute. Calyx 5–6 mm long, whitish-green, sparsely to densely hirsute-villose.

Habitat: —Rocky slopes and screes, mountain steppe; alt. 1500‒3400 m; fl. & fr. July to September.

Distribution: —Eastern Turkey, Northern Iraq and Northwest Iran.

Rechinger (1951) in the protologue for Ziziphora kurdica designated Kotschy 326 as the holotype, which he indicated was stored at W. Four specimens of Kotschy 326 are also present at W: W0031740, W18890076013, W0031751 and W18890004342, which are syntypes, and one of the well-preserved specimens representing the taxon, barcode W0031740, is designated here as the lectotype (Fig. 9); all other materials of Kotschy 326 including G00402140, G00402141, K000247838, W18890076013, W0031751 and W18890004342 are isolectotypes .
