Comments. Michener (1965) grouped Anthoglossa and Paracolletes under the genus-name Paracolletes, as subgenera of the latter. These two groups are superficially very similar, but the first phylogenetic hypothesis to include representatives from both taxa (Almeida 2007; Almeida & Danforth, in press) did not find evidence that they constitute sister taxa. Usage of the generic concept of ‘ Paracolletes s.l. ’ can therefore be misleading for suggesting a sister-group relationship between the two taxa being treated as subgenera in that case.
