Metallura jelskii Cabanis
Metallura jelskii Cabanis, 1874: 99 .
Now: Metallura phoebe (Lesson & DeLattre, 1839) . See Cory (1918: 268).
Type series: Cabanis (1874: 99–100) based this species on two specimens in spirit, collected by Jelski on an unknown date or dates and an unknown locality or localities. Both these syntypes are still in the ZMB. The MIZ thus never possessed types of this species (contra Taczanowski 1889: 11, Sztolcman & Domaniewski 1927: 111; see Mlíkovský 2009b for details).
Syntype: ZMB 21363, unsexed, collected by Jelski on an unknown date [= May to September 1871] at "Maraynioc?" [= Maraynioc, Peru]. Received in spirit (cf. Cabanis 1874: 97).
Syntype: ZMB 21364, unsexed, collected by Jelski on an unknown date [= May to September 1871] at "Maraynioc?" [= Maraynioc, Peru]. Received in spirit (cf. Cabanis 1874: 97).
Type locality: Cabanis (1874: 100) was unaware of the locality at which these syntypes were collected, but tentatively assumed that "Maraynioc" was their place of origin. This was confirmed by Taczanowski (1875: 544). The type locality of this species is thus Maraynioc, Peru [11.37°S, 75.40°W].
