Type material examined. Holotype ♀: Congo francaise [ Gabun], N'Djole; with the labels: “N'Djole / Congo franc. / ex E. Le Moult ”; “ S. auronitens / Le Cerf / ♀ Type”; “TYPE”; “ Sesia / auronitens Le Cerf / Bull. Soc. ent. Fr., / 1913, p.212” (MNHN).
The previous assignment of this small and delicate species to Tipulamima was unfounded. The holotype, as the only known specimen, is in very poor condition with nearly completely de-scaled body and missing legs, except for the right for- and midleg. A successful examination of the genitalia seems impossible due to the mouldy abdomen. Molecular data (barcoding) of other specimens place this and the next, very different species within Osminiini (Pühringer personal communication, unpublished). Since no genus is known to which this species can be assigned, we here provisionally transfer it to Chamanthedon Le Cerf, 1916 . A genus that contains a number of species with unexplained relationship.
