Differential diagnosis. This new species is similar to the other four species of Cyriotasiastes in the Philippines for having three bands of whitish pubescence in the elytra; with dense punctures from the base to the apical third of the elytra, finer towards the apex; and body tapering towards the apex of elytra. The new species differs from C. rhetenor mindorensis for having two-toned antennomeres III to VI (vs. two-toned antennomeres III to VIII in C. mindorensis ). The bands of pubescence in the elytra are much thicker compared with C. rhetenor rhetenor . It is also distinct from C. rhetenor solsonanensis for having no long erect black setae at frons. And it is distinct from C. rhetenor panayensis for having an acute triangular shaped metepisternum, base without depression (vs. metepisternum elongated triangular shaped, base with depression in C. rhetenor panayensis ). See key to the species.

Etymology. This new species is named after the second biggest island of the Philippines, Mindanao.
