Blades clavate to lanceolate with smooth, slightly undulating margins. Cells in surface view polygonal, irregularly arranged, 10 – 35 µm in diameter. In transverse section, cells rectangular with length: width ratios varying from <1 to 2, and maximum diameters up to 25 µm. One pyrenoid per cell.
